07 January 2008:
Major League Baseball pitcher Roger Clemens listens on as his attorney Rusty Hardin speaks during a news conference at the George R. Brown Convention Center on Monday January 7, 2008 in Houston, Texas. Clemens was named in the Mitchell Report by former Senate Majority Leader George Mitchell, who was hired by Major League Baseball commissioner Bud Selig to examine the Steroids Era. The seven-time Cy Young Award winner was singled out in nearly nine pages, 82 references by name in the Mitchell report. Much of the information on Clemens came from former New York Yankees major league strength and conditioning coach Brian McNamee. Clemens insists that he was injected with the painkiller lidocaine and vitamin B-12 during his career but not steroids as alleged by his former trainer McNamee. Clemens
