Mississauga Ontario Saturday May 8, 2004 IVAN CHIRIAEV, a 7'1 point guard who emmigrated from Russia to Oakville Ontario in 2002, is the first Canadian high school basketball player to declare himself eligable for the NBA straight out of high school. Initially signed to play college ball with Iowa state, after signing with an agent he decided to risk his career on the NBA. He is expected to go as a first round draft pick in the 2004 draft.
