17 June 2006: Brian McBride (USA) (20) is hit in the face with an elbow by midfielder Daniele De Rossi (ITA). De Rossi received a red card in the 28th minute for the foul, which opened up a bleeding wound under McBride's left eye. Italy tied the United States 1-1 at Fritz-Walter Stadion in Kaiserslautern, Germany in match 25, a Group E first round game, of the 2006 FIFA World Cup.
