20 November 2007: Hall of Fame basketball player Earl "The Pearl" Monroe, speaks to the media during a news conference at the Verizon Center in Washington, D.C. where the Wizards announced that Monroe's number 10 will officially be retired in a special ceremony on Dec. 1. Monroe was drafted by the Bullets out of Winston-Salem State University with the second overall pick in the first round of the 1967 NBA Draft. In four-plus seasons as a Bullet, Monroe averaged 23.7 points per game.
