15 Feb 1981: (28) Bobby Allison in a Pontiac Grand Prix was the class of the field in the 1981 Daytona 500. After winning one of the Twin 125 qualifying races, Allison looked to be headed back to Victory Lane, until this extra pitstop allowed Richard Petty to take the lead late in the race. Petty went on to win his seventh Daytona 500.
