10 September 2007: The National Stadium, nick named the "Bird's Nest" for its distinct design, under construction, in Beijing, China. Beijing is well underway in its preparations for the 2008 Summer Olympic Games, to be held August 8-28, with many major competition venues near or already completed. The National Stadium will host the opening and closing ceremonies, all track and field events, soccer (football) finals, and the marathon finish line.
