26 March 2007: Injured Geraldine Courdesses of France, 2006 winner of the women race, needs for medical assistance near the summit of jebel El Otfal, 947 meters and an average 25% slope, during the second stage (21.7 miles) of the 22nd Marathon des Sables between Khermou and jebel El Otfal. The Marathon des Sables is a 6 days and 151 miles endurance race with food self sufficiency across the Sahara Desert in Morocco. Each participant must carry his, or her, own backpack containing food, sleeping gear and other material.
