10 December 2005: Trey Elder (15) backup QB for the Appalachian State University Mountaineers stepped in to lead his team to victory in the NCAA Division I-AA semi-final championship game against the Furman Paladins. Elder's first play from scrimmage was a touchdown pass. Overall, Elder was 12 out of 17 for 165 yards. He also rushed for 65 yards on 13 caries and another touchdown as App State went on to win by a final score of 29-23 at Kidd Brewer Stadium in Boone, North Carolina.
