25 September 2006: Construction continues on China's National Aquatics Center, nicknamed "The Water Cube", in Beijing, China. This venue, along with the National Stadium, both have unique architectural designs, with the aquatics center shaped like a luminescent cube, and featuring a steel exoskeleton resembling water bubbles that use a special teflon-type synthetic membrane called ETFE that wraps around the structure. Beijing is gearing up its preparations work to be the host of the 29th Summer Olympic Games in 2008.
