Faris Al-Sultan of Germany is the first to finish the 112-mile Ironman World Championship in Kailua-Kona, Hawaii, October 15, 2005. He completed the race with a time of 8:14:17. Participants in the 27-year-old endurance race must complete the 140.6 mile course in under 17 hours.
