Faris Al-Sultan of Germany with a time of 8:14:17 is the first to cross the finish line in the 140.6-mile Ironman World Championship in Kailua-Kona, Hawaii, October 15, 2005. Participants in the 27-year-old endurance race must complete a 2.4 mile swim, a 112 mile bike and a 26.2 mile run.
